Reading FC set for a week of intense work in Sweden

Royals flew out to Sweden this morning for their annual pre-season tour in what will be a crucial week for Brendan Rodgers and his young squad.

Reading Post journalist Jonny Fordham will be the only press representative on the tour as part of the paper’s unrivalled coverage of Royals home away and abroad.

The squad will be based in the town of Kungsbacka, 20km south of Gothenburg, with the only major absentees Stephen Hunt and Ivar Ingimarsson.

Reading’s first match of the tour will be against Jonsereds IF tomorrow at the Jonsered IP (kick-off 7pm).

The Swedish Division 2 Västra Götaland outfit are in the equivalent of the English League Two, and Rodgers will be getting a full and in-depth look at his squad over the week.

“We’re still a couple of weeks into pre-season so we need to fight for our fitness,” the 36-year-old said.
