The American Swedish Institute (ASI) says its new cultural center in south Minneapolis will have — appropriately enough — Swedish design elements.
The news relates to ASI’s recent unveiling of designs for the Nelson Cultural Center, a 34,000-square-foot addition that will rise up next to the old Turnblad Mansion at 26th Street and Park Avenue.
The institute, which has raised $11 million toward a $21.5 million goal for the addition and mansion improvements, has enlisted the services of Minneapolis-based HGA Architects and Engineers for the project.
“Drawing inspiration from Swedish architecture and landscapes and working with Swedish designers has been an exciting aspect of this project,” Tim Carl, lead architect and vice president at HGA Architects and Engineers, said in a statement.
